John Muir

John Muir is a neighbourhood in West Sooke known for homes and acreages for sale that have privacy as well as waterfront and waterview outlooks. Close to the city core of Sooke John Muir and his family came to Vancouver Island in the late 1840’s to work as “cosignee” labourers for the Hudson’s Bay Company. Muir acquired a property in Sooke building the first successful steam-operated sawmill in BC, and developing the largest privately owned fleet of ships in the Northwest.
